Career

Anaesthesia at GRI till ‘77, enjoyed the training in a great department with good colleagues.

P/Time at “The Vale” 78-84 in some pretty scary on-call obstetric and trauma situations, then lastly ECT sessions at Gartnavel Royal till thwarted by CME requirements and reluctantly retired about 2001.

G P from ‘77 till now, will retire in June after 34 years in Maryhill.  I did a lot of  OOH work between 1972 and 2002 , the best set-up being  GEMS, prior to NHS 24. Did an LMC stint and LPA in LHCC days.

I still enjoy the patients [well most of them!], hate EMIS, CHIPS and appraisals and look forward to new non medical opportunities soon.

Personal Details

Still married to Rosie,  amazing after 39 years that she’s not  given up on me!

Son Nicky [Insurance loss adjuster] married to Kirstie [works for Chivas Bros-  very useful!] they have 10yr old Katie and live in our old home in Bearsden.

Son Scott started an on-line telecoms business while still at university, sold out  and moved to London last year, about to launch a new venture on the web - a personnel targets management tool aimed at small/medium size enterprises.

We have a house in Arran and, along with our family, enjoy it, the garden, the wildlife, walking, the sea and have a small motor boat moored off Lochranza Castle.

In recent years we've swapped winter sun on Alpine pistes for Thailand's island beaches and visited Bangkok, Hong Kong, Beijing and Singapore at various times.  Hope to visit Oz when retired and resume fishing, hill-walking and sailin in Arran.
