I
became married during the Southern Gen stint to Ruth and we have two sons, both
in London. One is married with two sons also. We visit there often apart from
the boating season to which I am addicted. I started crewing many years ago for
a friend racing yachts at club level and beyond, then when our sons’ university
costs stopped, acquired a succession of sailing yachts to cruise the West Coast
, Ireland and the Hebrides. We now have a motor cruiser and plan to go to the
Orkneys this summer. Work pays for the diesel! Music is also a significant part
of our activities. Ruth became a professional musician and visual artist after
she retired from her financial business. The quality of life in Glasgow we find
compares very favourably with that in each of the many distant places to which we’ve
recently travelled.... apart from the weather!
