House jobs were at Law Hospital
followed by Obstetrics at Bellshill. A Paeds job at Aberdeen was followed by a
trainee GP job there. I then became a FT partner in a 3 partner
well-established practice, just as Aberdeen was smelling oil. There I met some
lovely people, as one does, and got fond of that part of the world, staying on
for over 11 years.
I went on to sample the Drs
Retainer Scheme in Dundee for a few years, before doing sessional State benefit
assessment work for the DWP in Dundee. I stopped work in 2006 due to
uncontrolled Rheumatoid Arthritis, now under control. |
Personal Details
I bought a rustic cottage in Speyside, in 84, and have enjoyed gradually
improving it. I married Bill in 86, and had a window into the academic Law
world. We moved to Dundee, and our delightful daughter was born in 1988. As she
was learning to toddle, I was being treated for early breast cancer.
Our marriage crumbled in 94, and Helen and I continued to live in
Dundee. Unfortunately, aged 16, Helen developed Depression, and although
involved with secondary services, she died aged 18, just 4 years ago. She fell
into all the gaps in MH services here for young people, acknowledged by the
SPSO service, and now, by NHS Tayside. Would that this vital aspect of
Psychiatry would appeal to bright, inspired people.
My interests include singing, aquafit, dog walking and friendships.
South Africa is in my background, so I have revisited periodically. Seeing
Canada (Liz Pyper) and Australia have been recent firsts. |
