I trained in Histopathology in Glasgow
and became a Consultant in Ayrshire in 1979, based initially at Ballochmyle and
later at Crosshouse
Hospital. In 1986 we
moved to Hampshire and I worked for many years as a peripatetic Locum
Consultant, mainly at Bournemouth, Isle of Wight, Salisbury
and Portsmouth.
In 2001 I was appointed to a part-time consultant post at the Royal Bournemouth
Hospital. The stress of
trying to provide increasingly complex information from ever smaller biopsies
drove me to early retirement in 2007.
Personal Details
In 1983, I married Martin Kennedy, a self-employed
accountant. He tried unsuccessfully to relocate his business from Basingstoke
to Glasgow and
in 1986 we moved to Lymington in Hampshire where business was much better. We
opted not to have children. He was a keen sailor and we spent many enjoyable
weekends boating in the Firth of Clyde and the Solent.
Martin died suddenly of coronary artery disease in 1997 aged 48.
Nowadays I enjoy gardening, going to ballet and opera in London, and still sail
occasionally with friends. Holidays are spent no-fly cruising from Southampton.
