Career
House jobs at the Vicky, psychiatric training in Glasgow, consultant in Sheffield. After reorganising the Sheffield training
scheme I got to visit all Scotland’s psychiatric training schemes for GPT
approval from the College. Management
beguiled and I became medical director for 9 relatively fruitless years, returning to full time clinical practice for
the final 5 happy years of working life. |
Personal Details
Enid and I married a year before finals. Still together. She became a child psychotherapist, so our original plans of being a GP and
teacher respectively didn’t happen. 3
kids, Robin (civil servant), Gordon (Ph.D. in science fiction. Honestly!) and Catriona (handbag designer.) Formed a blues band (guitar and singing) shortly after 40th
birthday. I know… Still playing
occasional gigs. Since retirement in
2007 I have rediscovered the joys of indolence, frivolity and excess and the great pleasure of catching up with friends from
yesteryear. Now in 3rd year of learning
to play traditional fiddle: much harder
than guitar. Slowly acquiring RYA
qualifications for sailing. Wine remains
captivating. Life is happily divided
between Sheffield and Troon.
