Career
My
first house job after graduating in 1971was in Dumfries, and ironically that is
where I am working now, at the end of my career, as a GP in Greyfriars Medical
Practice. Prior to coming to work in Dumfries, I worked as a GP in rural
Galloway- where I spent 18 years, and was a GP trainer there. I have also
worked in Barbados, Queensland, and Kent. I have no academic medical
publications. I am a firm believer in intuition and evidence base medicine
working together- which is basically why I evolved as a GP. I embraced
homeopathy at an early stage of my career, and started an NHS funded clinic in
Dumfries and Galloway in 2003. Would like to have done a spell as a ship's
doctor- maybe not too late yet! |

Personal Details
Married
Shelagh in 1974. Sadly we divorced in 2004, but still keep in touch as friends
- and parents of our four grown up kids - Anna, Amy, Andrew, and Angus. Shelagh
has since re-married, and three years ago I met a lovely lady of Italian
descent, called Franca. Last year we visited Italy on three occasions and
stayed in Franca's house in Calabria. My main interests remain music and drama-
I am about to "star" in Dumfries Musical Society's production of
"High Society" in the last week of April (tickets still available at
special Zeta Club Discount!). No grandchildren as yet - I think my kids are
probably waiting for me to retire so that I will have no excuse for evading
grand parental duties! |
