Career
I spent three good years on the Western Medical Rotation and eighteen months doing haematology at the Royal which convinced me that microscopes were not for me. I moved into GP in Forfar having found another Peterkin to be in Partnership with and was soon joined by Alasdair McDonald. We had 21 enjoyable years together. I developed an interest in Community Hospitals and New Technologies and after taking a year out to do an MBA- a qualification that enables one to communicate with other MBA’s and few others- moved to Aberdeen to become Medical Director of the then PCT. After some time I finished up heading the Newly formed Scottish Centre for Telehealth for 3 great years until retiral. I now have a consultancy in Telehealthcare and, retired from the NHS, work part-time and in various countries.

Personal Details
A creature of habit, I’m still married to Fiona - we’ve been an item since first year. We have three children, Scott a lawyer in Edinburgh, married to Karen with two children, Grant is an Investment Director with Citigroup in Sydney as of June 2010, and is married to Eleanor, and Jane an OT (resting) married to Dan who is an aneasthetist in training in Wellington. We therefore have compelling reasons for visiting the Antipodes in the Scottish winter. We live in a house we built 19 years ago outside Forfar. Fiona was lucky enough to be given the cement mixer as an anniversary present. We have a spaniel called Tilly, like gardening, walking, very bad golf and antipodean wines. I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity that the reunion has given me to catch up with everybody. |
