Career
After graduation and
serving six months at the Vic and six in Forfar I fell for the seductions of
“The Great Satan” and landed a job in New Jersey as A Rotating Intern, Dr
Kildare white uniform included. This was followed by a year of General
Surgery in Denver, Colorado and then an Orthopaedic Residency in Wichita
Kansas. I have been an Clinical Assistant Professor of the University of Kansas
Orthopaedic Department for 30 yrs. Closely involved with the teaching of
our residents since. I am past Director of Orthopaedic Trauma and have been
Orthopaedic Section Chairman of our Level 1 Trauma hospital for ten long years.
Although I am now past 65 I plan and expect to continue working for 5 more
years depending on how our “leaders” reform health care. |
Personal Details
In 1976 I married but unfortunately this fell apart after 15 years. However I am a very proud father of Melissa (39) who left the University of Dallas to go to St Andrews and graduate with a PhD. In Mediaeval History. She married a fellow St Andrews historian and they both now teach at UCD in Dublin. Melissa will have had my first grandchild sometime this month. I have developed a passion for college basketball thanks to Diane, my Fiancée of 15 months and continue my passion for expensive sports cars, F1 and Top Gear and now house hunting. |
