Career
After house jobs I trained in general practice but found it was not for me.  I then made a brief foray into psychiatry before settling into paediatrics where I spent the rest of my working life.  My main interests were developmental paediatrics and child protection.  I took a social work qualification at Dundee University and also trained as a police surgeon.  I was chair of my local child protection committee and responsible for multidisciplinary training courses.  I also carried out some GP locum work and was a member of the Adoption and Fostering Committee.  I retired 10 years ago because of severe mental health problems which continue to the present.
Personal Details
I married just prior to our final examinations.  This ended in divorce but not before I had four lovely children.  Susan is an Egyptologist but not working in that fireld at present.  David teaches history, geography and RE.  Ruth is a meteorologist.  Jennifer is a psychologist and working in cancer research.  I have one lovely grand daughter who is 3 years old and called Milly.

My interests are arts & crafts, writing poetry, photography and Church matters.  I am lucky to have had some of my work published and photographs exihbited.  I am a Board member of the Dumfries and Galloway User and Carer Involvement Committee.  I have recently retired from the Children's Panel.  My main interest in the UCI is mental health.
