Career

Following GP vocational training at the Southern General and one year in practice in Kilwinning I joined Brian Calder in Helensburgh in 1976. Someone had to look after him!! We worked well together for 33yrs and saw the practice grow and develop. I became involved in the Health Board and eventually became GP lead in the local LHCC (remember it?). Retired along with BDC in 2009 and don't miss the interminable bureaucracy of the NHS.

Personal Details

I married Michelle (before final year) and she still puts up with me but only just. We have two children Brian, a web designer, and Laura, a nurse, with three delightful grandchildren (4yr, 3yr, 6 months). They all live in the Edinburgh area so contact is frequent and exhausting. I still enjoy active pursuits including sailing, golf (badly), curling and walking and we both look forward to our frequent trips to France for the wine, food and weather in that order.
